What is the LEPC ?
The Franklin County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meets every other month to discuss hazardous materials planning, preparedness, training and review incidents that occur in Franklin County and neighboring jurisdictions. Franklin County's LEPC Brochure-MS Word
The LEPC is a committee mandated by Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986. It is comprised of representatives from government, industry, elected officials, environmental groups and others.
The LEPC receives information each year from businesses storing/using hazardous materials in excess of thresholds established by the Environmental Protection Agency. These businesses must report this information to the LEPC, their local fire department and to the Washington State Department of Ecology.
